The spiritual growth of individuals
Each individual is a member of the human family and can make a positive contribution to the life of society. In order to help build a just and prosperous world, personal spiritual development is essential.
Bahá’u’lláh teaches that all human beings are fundamentally spiritual beings and each person is in charge of his or her own spiritual growth. Religion enables individuals to discover and develop the gem-like qualities that they have within them.
Teaching for a peaceful society
When we look around us, we see a world filled with conflict, injustice and inequality. Society’s attempts at fixing these problems have fallen short because without a unified vision, we are only able to treat the symptoms, not the cause.
Bahá’u’lláh compared the world of humanity to the human body. Within this body, millions of cells, each with a different function, plays a part in maintaining a healthy system. Just as a healthy human body would never pit one part of itself against another, different parts of humanity cannot be in conflict with each other and expect to advance and prosper.
Education and Capacity Building
Most Bahá’í community activities—prayer gatherings, study groups, activities for children and teens—are open to all and take place in homes and community centers across the Liberia.
Study Circles Together with friends and neighbors, Bahá’ís gather in homes and other informal settings to study and reflect upon the Bahá’í teachings pertaining to individual and societal progress. Through the study of a sequence of courses, spiritual insights are gained and practical skills and capacities developed that place service at the heart of our lives.
Junior Youth Program
Throughout the Liberia, young members of the Bahá’í community, together with their friends, participate in neighborhood groups that focus on developing mental and spiritual capacities, fostering the desire for service, and assisting them to navigate through this crucial period of life. In addition to the pursuit of academic knowledge, the Bahá’í community places great emphasis on the spiritual nourishment of children, focusing on the development of spiritual qualities, such as truthfulness, generosity and kindness.
